Valeco, an independent renewable energy producer, and Eclipse announce the signing of two value-enhancement contracts for battery storage systems co-located with operational wind farms.
The Montjean and Patureault projects illustrate the growing role of storage in optimizing renewable energy assets.
Under these agreements, Eclipse will manage the two assets across all electricity markets accessible to batteries. Using its Flowstream optimization platform, Eclipse will manage the assets in real time to maximize their contribution to the power system while creating value for their owners.
Eclipse provides a minimum revenue guarantee through a floor mechanism. This approach secures a portion of the projects’ revenues while allowing them to benefit from the value creation potential offered by electricity markets. Both projects illustrate the emergence of a new generation of energy infrastructure that combines renewable generation and storage. By adding flexibility to existing wind power assets, the batteries help optimize the use of grid connection infrastructure, enhance the value of the energy produced, and support the stability of the power system.
